CONCERT BAND & WIND ENSEMBLE CLASSES

All band students are assigned to one of the concert groups based on their experience and playing ability. Throughout the school year, these ‘sit-down’ bands will perform at least 4 concerts at school as well as 2-3 district, area and state level concert festivals.

Most freshmen will be assigned to the Concert Band where we will focus on helping all students achieve a standard level of musicianship. This band will perform at 3 assessment festivals as required by DVUSD. Concert Band has a diversity of age levels from 9th -12th graders. There is no audition required to be a member of this band.

The Wind Ensemble is an experience and skill-level based band. This band will focus on performing challenging works for band and the expectation is to work on harder music at a fast pace. Membership into this group is by audition. If you would like to audition for this group, please have your band director contact Mrs. Esparza to set up a playing test.

STRING ORCHESTRA CLASS

Fall 2018 will be the first semester that String Orchestra is going to be offered at Goldwater. This ensemble is open to all grades and levels of experience as they perform on violin, viola, cello and string bass. The Orchestra will perform at least 4 school concerts during the school. There is no audition required to be a member of the String Orchestra.

Students will need to provide their own instruments as a small amount of school instruments will be available.
